Welcome to ETSA Utilities' Guide to Embedded Generation Network Connections. The term 'embedded' applies to both small and large-scale generators connected to the ETSA Utilities distribution network.
Small Embedded Generators are defined for the purpose of the Guide as embedded generator installations complying with the relevant Australian Standard AS 4777 (grid connection of energy systems via inverters), Parts 1, 2 & 3. For installations complying with AS 4777 with grid connected inverters, we will connect single phase installations up to a maximum of 10 kVA and three phase installations up to a maximum of 30 kVA.

The Essential Services Commission of SA (ESCOSA) will not permit ETSA Utilities to connect embedded generators to the distribution network without an agreed and approved Small Embedded Generator Connection Agreement.
Please note this agreement is for your information only. A copy will be emailed to you when you have submitted your application form, as detailed in the application process in the user guide below.
To arrange for connection, please review the Small Embedded Generator user guide then complete the Small Embedded Generator request form.

Large Embedded Generators are defined for the purpose of the Guide as all other embedded generator installations not covered by the requirements of the relevant Australian Standard AS4777 (grid connection of energy systems via inverters). Large Embedded Generator installations, whether export or non-export, connected to operate in parallel with the ETSA Utilities network, must be assessed by us for suitability for connection and comply in all respects to the Guide.
