Apprenticeship training features

The apprenticeships are over a four year period, comprising of both on-the-job and off-the-job training at ETSA Utilities Training Centres located at Angle Park and Davenport (Port Augusta) and at TAFE SA.

A large proportion of the Electrical Powerline Apprentices training is conducted at ETSA Utilities Training Centre and consists of specific classroom/workshop and field based programs which are run by nationally accredited ETSA Utilities training staff who are experts in the field. For Systems Electricians and Electronics Apprentices, the majority of off job training is carried out by TAFE SA.

Training provided through ETSA Utilities Apprenticeship Program surpasses industry requirements, resulting in a broader knowledge base and skill set on completion of the apprenticeship.

During the program, apprentices may be required to rotate through a variety of working environments and locations. This is done to gain the required skills and knowledge, maximise development opportunities and help gain an insight into ETSA Utilities and the industry in which we operate.

Where, by the presentation of suitable evidence, it can be demonstrated that an apprentice has satisfied specific competencies in previous study or work experience, it may be possible to have the achievement of competency recognised by applying for recognition of prior learning (RPL). However the decision to recognise RPL will be solely based on the evidence presented and recognition will be at the discretion of the relevant Registered Training Organisation (RTO).
